"Crossing Sussex"
Private Collection

Always interesting to see how one thing leads to another somewhat along the lines of one painting idea leading to a series. The previous painting of the Chateau Laurier below led me to find a painting I had done several years ago. The hotel is in the background. When giving the title to the folks who receive and  hang paintings at the Ottawa Little Theatre, I casually mentioned that it was a painting of PM Stephen Harper getting hit by a bus. Didn't crack a smile.....musta been a Tory, eh?

 "Great Gray Owl"
 Private Collection

Painted in 2006, this was the year of the Great Gray Owl's introduction to the Ottawa Valley. Normally not sighted here too often, they came in search of food. What they found was food.....and photographers. They are not frightened by humans. Nice.  This painting was awarded the "President's Choice" from the  Ottawa Watercolour Society in the same year.

"In The Weeds"

Private Collection

Having lived on the Mississippi Lake near Carleton Place, about 30 minutes east of Ottawa, these guys were quite common. Mostly heard but not seen too often. Their mating calls and just having fun calls will always go deep into the memories of those that get to hear them. Especially when kids try to imitate them.
